Our Diploma of Remedial Massage qualified therapists assess how you move, then use deep tissue, trigger point and myofascial techniques to release the muscles driving your pain. - [Dry Needling Sydney CBD](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/services/dry-needling): Dry needling uses fine acupuncture-style needles inserted into trigger points to release tight bands of muscle, reduce pain and restore movement. At APC it is delivered by practitioners with advanced myofascial dry needling training, usually as part of a broader treatment. - [Cupping Therapy Sydney CBD](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/services/cupping): Cupping uses suction to lift the skin and fascia, drawing blood flow into tight or restricted tissue. We use dry cupping (stationary cups) and running cupping (cups glided over oiled skin) to release tension, ease pain and speed recovery, usually combined with massage. - [Red Light Therapy Sydney CBD](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/services/red-light-therapy): Red light therapy uses low-level red and near-infrared light to stimulate cellular activity in skin, muscle and joint tissue. At APC it is offered as a 20 minute add-on to any appointment ($30) or as a stand-alone session ($60), with no needles, no downtime and minimal side effects. - [Myofascial Release Sydney CBD](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/services/myofascial-release): Myofascial stripping is a focused technique our therapists use within massage sessions to release tension in the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds muscles. By applying sustained pressure along the fibre while you move the joint, we restore glide, range of motion and comfort. - [Exercise Therapy Sydney CBD](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/services/exercise-therapy): Exercise is the second and third principle of Active Performance Therapy: supervised training to rebuild strength, stability and movement after symptom relief, then self-care programs you can do between visits. Our therapists hold Certificate IV in Personal Training alongside their massage qualifications. ## Conditions treated - [Neck Pain Treatment Sydney CBD](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/conditions/neck-pain): Neck pain, Cervical spine dysfunction, Whiplash injury, Herniated disc (cervical), Cervicogenic headaches - [Back Pain Treatment Sydney CBD](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/conditions/back-pain): Low back pain, Sciatica, Lumbar spine dysfunction, Herniated disc (lumbar), Scoliosis - [Shoulder Pain Treatment Sydney CBD](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/conditions/shoulder-pain): Rotator cuff tendinitis, Shoulder impingement syndrome, Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis), Shoulder instability, Shoulder bursitis - [Elbow and Wrist Pain Treatment Sydney CBD](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/conditions/elbow-and-wrist-pain): Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), Golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis), Carpal tunnel syndrome, Elbow or wrist sprain, De Quervain's tenosynovitis - [Hip Pain Treatment Sydney CBD](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/conditions/hip-pain): Hip osteoarthritis, Hip bursitis, Hip labral tear, Hip flexor strain, Hip impingement (femoroacetabular impingement) - [Knee and Ankle Pain Treatment Sydney CBD](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/conditions/knee-and-ankle-pain): Ankle sprain, Achilles tendinitis, Plantar fasciitis, Patellofemoral pain (runner's knee), ACL injury ## Key pages - [What is Active Performance Therapy](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/active-performance-therapy) - [Pricing and packages](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/pricing) - [About and team](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/about) - [Testimonials](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/testimonials) - [FAQs](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/faqs) - [Book online](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/booking) - [Contact and directions](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/contact) - [Remedial Massage & AP Therapy near Town Hall Station](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/near/town-hall-station) - [Remedial Massage & Dry Needling near Wynyard Station](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/near/wynyard-station) - [Remedial Massage & Cupping near Queen Victoria Building (QVB)](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/near/queen-victoria-building) - [Remedial Massage & Red Light Therapy near Darling Harbour](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/near/darling-harbour) - [Remedial Massage & Exercise Therapy near Barangaroo](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/near/barangaroo) ## Articles - [Dry needling vs acupuncture: what's the difference?](https://www.activeperformanceclinic.com.au/articles/dry-needling-vs-acupuncture): Dry needling and acupuncture both use fine needles but differ in training, aims and where needles go. A: Active Performance Therapy (AP Therapy) combines conventional health and fitness practice with remedial massage, dry needling, cupping, red light therapy and exercise, with a strong focus on addressing the root cause of movement problems rather than only the symptoms. It follows three principles: direct symptom relief, supervised training and self-care solutions. - Q: How does Active Performance Therapy benefit me? A: Every session starts with an assessment by a Master Practitioner so treatment targets your specific problem. You get relief on the day from a combination of hands-on techniques, then a plan of exercise and self-care that stops the problem returning. - Q: How do I know what treatment I need? A: You do not need to decide in advance. Book an initial appointment and your practitioner will assess you and choose the combination of massage, dry needling, cupping, red light therapy and exercise that suits your condition and goals. - Q: How can I schedule an appointment? A: Book online through our Cliniko booking page at any time, or call us on +61 416 533 542 if you have questions. New clients should book the Consultation and Initial Treatment option. - Q: Do I need to bring anything with me? A: Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement. Bring any relevant scans, reports or referrals, and a list of questions or goals if that helps. If something aids your comfort, such as a favourite pillow or cushion, you are welcome to bring it. - Q: How many times will I need to come in before I feel better? A: It varies with the person and the condition. At your first visit your therapist assesses you thoroughly and sets out a personalised plan with the recommended frequency and duration of visits. Many people feel a difference after the first session, with lasting change building over a plan of care. - Q: Will my sessions be covered by insurance? A: Check with your health fund about cover for remedial massage and exercise services under your extras. We can help you understand your benefits and provide receipts with the details you need to claim. - Q: Will I see the same Active Performance Therapist every time? A: Each visit starts with an assessment by a Master Practitioner, and treatment may be delivered by any of our qualified therapists following the same plan. If you prefer a private treatment with a specific Master Practitioner, a $40 surcharge applies. - Q: Do I need to tell my therapist if I might not make it to my session? A: Yes, please let us know as soon as you can so the time can be offered to another client. Your booking confirmation email includes a link to cancel up to 48 hours ahead. - Q: Will I be charged a cancellation fee for a no-show or late cancellation? A: Cancellations need at least 48 hours notice. Cancellations within 24 hours incur a fee of 50% of the booked service, and no-shows or cancellations with less than 4 hours notice incur 100%, at the discretion of the clinic. - Q: How much does an appointment cost? A: An initial 60 minute appointment for first-time clients is $160. Follow-up appointments are $140 for 45 minutes, $160 for 60 minutes and $250 for 90 minutes. Red light therapy is $30 as a 20 minute add-on or $60 stand-alone. A $40 surcharge applies for a private treatment with a Master Practitioner. Prices current as of 21 October 2024. - Q: Are there packages or gift cards? A: Yes. The New Visitor Package ($590, saves $50) includes a consultation and initial treatment plus three standard follow-ups. The Performance Recovery Package ($530, saves $40) includes three standard follow-ups with red light therapy. Gift cards never expire and can be used on any package. Packages and gift cards are available in clinic only. - Q: How can I pay? A: Payment is due in full at the time of booking or at the end of the appointment, by cash, credit or debit card, or electronic funds transfer. - Q: Is there a discount for referring a friend? A: Yes. When someone you refer books their first appointment and mentions your name, you both receive 10% off: your friend on their first session and you on your next visit. There is no limit to the number of people you can refer.
