Myofascial Release Sydney CBD
Myofascial stripping is a focused technique our therapists use within massage sessions to release tension in the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds muscles. By applying sustained pressure along the fibre while you move the joint, we restore glide, range of motion and comfort.
How myofascial stripping works
Fascia is the web of connective tissue that wraps every muscle and links them into chains. When it becomes dense or stuck, movement feels stiff and muscles cannot lengthen properly, which often shows up as pain some distance from the real restriction.
During a session your therapist locates the restriction, applies sustained pressure along the fibre direction, and usually asks you to move the joint through its range at the same time. That active movement is what makes the technique effective: it restores glide between layers rather than just compressing the tissue.
Where it fits in your treatment
Myofascial stripping is one of the tools our therapists use inside remedial massage sessions, alongside dry needling and cupping. It is particularly useful for hips and thighs in runners, forearms in people who type or lift all day, and the upper back and neck in desk workers.

Myofascial Release FAQs
What is the difference between myofascial release and a normal massage?
Standard massage strokes compress and glide over muscle. Myofascial stripping applies slower, sustained pressure along the line of the fascia, often while you actively move the joint, to free restrictions between layers of tissue.
Does it hurt?
It can feel intense over very restricted areas, but it should never be unbearable. Your therapist works within your tolerance and checks in throughout.
